Performing Arts Association
The Performing Arts Association (PAA) is a voluntary parent support group whose primary role is to bring out the best in each boy in the Performing Arts from Transition through to Year 12.
The Performing Arts at Scots includes Vocals, Choir, Drama, Orchestra, Band, Musical Theatre, Speech, and Dance. The PAA manages several key events throughout the year, including:
- The Performing Arts Annual Cocktail Party - Tuesday 19 March 2013
- Providing front of house suppers and backstage support for most Preparatory and Senior School Music, Drama and Dance performances
- Annual Fundraising Dinner - Friday 30 August 2013
- The Scots College Christmas Gift Fair this year being held on Thursday 7 November 2013 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm
Opportunities to get involved
Our endeavours are to ensure that we are able to provide financial assistance to purchase equipment or instruments that the boys need. However as well as fundraising the parents in the Performing Arts Association help at Performing Arts events right across the school from Transition to Year 12. There are many opportunities to get involved and use all sorts of skills such as parents volunteering to assist behind the scenes at Choral Vespers and Church Services, and Prep and Senior School performances. We need the enthusiastic help of parents who enjoy sewing, working backstage assisting with make-up and hair, and organising suppers.
We also are involved in helping the Scots College with their charitable activities, a key part of the schools mission in helping boys understand their role, importance and responsibilities in the wider community. Every year we support The Scots College Charity Concert which is held in June.
The Association meets twice a term, and we are always excited to have new faces to help us. And why would you join? The Performing Arts is one of the most exciting areas within the College and it is always a pleasure to see boys deriving so much enjoyment and we feel privileged to help them do that.
If you are interested in joining or simply need information about the Performing Arts, do not hesitate to contact any of the Committee members listed on this page.
We look forward to a wonderful year!
